Import artwork
You can import in two ways:
- use
Open Imagefrom theFilemenu - drag a file directly onto the canvas
Supported file types:
- Images: PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP
- Vector: SVG, DXF, PDF
DXF and PDF files are converted to SVG during import. PDF import can fail if the file contains complex elements, embedded images, or encryption. SVG is the most reliable format for vector artwork.
What happens after import
The artwork appears on the canvas and is selected automatically. From there you can move, resize, rotate, flip, and align it.
Move and resize on the canvas
Drag the artwork to reposition it. Use the visible handles to resize it.
Set an exact position or size
Use the sidebar inputs for precise placement:
XandYset the position relative to the work areaWidthandHeightset the dimensions
Exact numeric inputs are the best option for repeat products, centered jobs, and any layout where measurement matters.
Other positioning tools
The sidebar also includes rotation, flip, and quick alignment buttons. Right-clicking on the canvas gives access to actions like Edit Image, Group, and Step & Repeat.
For a full list of canvas tools, view controls, and alignment options, see Canvas and Precision Tools.
Practical tips
- For clean vector output, use SVG rather than PDF where possible.
- For image-based work, use the image adjustment tools in
Edit Imageto improve contrast and detail before generating. - Use
Previewafter generating to confirm placement looks correct. - Use
Framing (Low-Power Outline)for a final placement check on real material before the full run.
