Projects

A project saves your current working state so you can come back to it later.

Save and open projects

From the File menu:

  • Save Project - saves the current state
  • Save Project As... - saves a copy with a new name
  • Open Project - opens a saved project file
  • Recent Projects - quickly reopens a recent file without browsing

When saving, you can give the project a name and an optional description.

Projects save your canvas layout, artwork, and many of the job settings you were using at the time.

Auto-save

In Settings > General, enable Auto-save project changes to have the app save your project automatically while you work.

Auto-save activates after the first manual save. When active, the toolbar shows an Auto Save badge next to the save button.

Templates

Templates save a layout structure rather than just job settings. They are most useful when you need the same outline, safe zone, or placeholder arrangement every time you run a particular type of job.

Open Template Manager

Go to File > Template Manager.

From here you can:

  • New Template - create a fresh template
  • Import Template - load a template from a .lltemplate file
  • Load Selected Template - apply a template to the current workspace

Save the current project as a template

Use File > Save as Template.

The save dialog includes fields for:

  • Template Name
  • Description
  • Template instructions / notes
  • An option to also create a shareable .lltemplate file

Template creation and export are Pro and above features.

Template Editor

The Layer Manager includes a Template Editor mode for building and editing templates.

Inside the Template Editor, you can add and manage:

  • Outline - the boundary of the printable or usable area
  • Safe Area - an inner margin where artwork should stay to avoid edge clipping
  • Placeholder image - a visual guide showing where artwork will go
  • Guide overlays for alignment

Available actions:

  • Create Outline
  • Import SVG
  • Create Bounds
  • Create placeholder image
  • Save template
  • Clear guides

For existing guides, you can show, hide, edit, delete, and assign roles like Outline or Safe Area.

When templates help

Templates are most useful for:

  • repeat orders with the same product shape or material
  • jobs where placement must be consistent each time
  • layouts shared across a team
  • any job where rebuilding the layout from scratch every time is wasteful

Repeat jobs

Multiple passes

To run the same generated job more than once, set the count using Repeat / Passes in the top bar before clicking Send.

This is useful for:

  • multiple cutting passes to go deeper
  • running a batch of identical pieces back to back

Only set a repeat count after you are happy with the generated result.

Step & Repeat

Step & Repeat duplicates artwork into a tiled layout across the canvas.

Access it by right-clicking on the canvas.

Step & Repeat is a Pro and above feature.

Good habits

  • Save a project when the job setup matters and you may want to run it again.
  • Save a template when the layout structure is what you want to reuse.
  • Save good material settings from the test grid to avoid repeating testing.
  • Only increase the repeat count after confirming the generated result looks correct.
