SVG Layer Editing
When you import an SVG, Light Lane can show its internal structure in the Layer Manager . This lets you work with parts of the SVG independently, without needing to edit the file in another app.

What appears in the Layer Manager
For an imported SVG, the Layer Manager shows:
- the file as a top-level item
- nested groups or layers from within the SVG
- individual sublayers within those groups
The structure reflects the layer and group hierarchy of the SVG itself.
Basic layer actions
For regular layers you can:
- select the layer
- reorder it by dragging
- show or hide it
When multiple items are selected, the panel also shows Group and Clear.
Group actions
For grouped items, the available actions include:
Rename groupUngroup itemsDelete group and contentsAdd selected to this groupShow grouporHide group
When you are editing inside a group, the Layer Manager shows an Editing: banner and a Done button to exit the group edit mode.
SVG sublayer editing
When you select a sublayer, the sidebar shows Sublayer Edit controls:
Visible- show or hide this sublayerOpacity- adjust transparencyXandY- adjust the sublayer's position independentlyReset Position- return to the original position- Nudge buttons - small directional adjustments in set increments
Scale- resize the sublayerReset Scale- return to the original sizeReset Sublayer- undo all sublayer adjustments
A Deselect sublayer button returns you to the main canvas selection.
When this is useful
SVG sublayer editing is most useful when:
- you want to hide part of an imported SVG
- you want to move or scale one element without affecting the whole file
- you received a complex SVG from another design tool and want to make small corrections before running the job
For larger structural changes, it is usually more practical to edit the SVG in its original application and reimport it.
